TRUSTEE CHAIR – Richard Sanderson

Since a young age I have been passionate about helping others, one of many Christian and life values taught me by my parents.    I previously worked for 10 years with British Gas and Transco and am a graduate of Northumbria University. I am married, have a son, and for many years now have lived and worked at Children’s Vision in Colombia.  It is a huge privilege to use my life to serve God and help needy and vulnerable people and communities.  In Bogota there are many other young people who call me “Dad,” and seeing them overcome challenges and achieve success is just fantastic!

As a district nurse sister and subsequently as a  wound care specialist, for many years I spent my annual leave helping with the Medical Missions run by Children’s Vision in Colombia; I have led volunteer teams from my church and local area, then in 2012 I spent 2 years working as a full time volunteer with Children’s Vision. I am passionate about the work of Children Vision so am delighted to be able to support their work through New Hope for Children.

Qualified as a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Banker, David has many years of experience acting for a variety of businesses, charities, and individuals in his Accountancy Practice.  In addition, he volunteers as a trustee, secretary or treasurer with 15 charities. He has acted as Treasurer and Trustee for New Hope for Children for 5 years and has also visited CVII in Colombia on 2 occasions working as a volunteer on building projects.

Hi I am Margaret Swift. Before retiring I worked in a library for 43 years. I have been a Christian for over 50 years and attend North Shields Evangelical Church where I am a deacon. I was one of the founding trustees of New Hope for Children in 2008 and my role is the secretary. I have been to Children’s Vision in Bogota many times and have seen the work they do and the difference they make to many children’s lives.  I am also very passionate about the work.

Ruth Brierley

I am Ruth Brierley. I am a retired school teacher. About 15 years ago, my husband returned from a church meeting and said a group visiting Bogota was looking for volunteers to join it. The vicar had suggested me…the visit was ‘life changing’ and I now volunteer with the UK team and organise Richard’s speaking diary for his visits the UK and Ireland.
